Joan Sellers

Joan Sellers and her husband Steve live in Woodstock.  They were married in 1989 and have 3
sons: Daniel (Ashley), Luke (Zoey), and Joel (Shannon).  Joan grew up in West Blocton and
graduated from West Blocton High School in 1986.  Joan then attended the University of Montevallo
and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education in 1990 and a master’s degree in
Elementary Education in 1996.  Joan retired from the Bibb County School System in 2015 after
teaching for 25 years. She began working at First Baptist Church of Woodstock in 2018. Joan was
saved in 1978 at Sparks Gap Baptist Church in Bessemer.  She is currently a member of Tannehill
Valley Baptist Church where she is church treasurer, helps in children’s Sunday School and works in
the nursery.  In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family, especially outdoors, and
reading.

Joan’s favorite scripture is Philippians 4:12-13
12 “I know both how to have a little, and I know how to have a lot. In any and all circumstances I
have learned the secret of being content, whether well fed or hungry, whether in abundance or in
need. 13 I am able to do all things through Him who strengthens me.”
